Artist Statement
The single most-used term others have used to describe my work is "intimate" - nude bodies, even drawn, tend to elicit that reaction. The use of the body in my drawings - whole or fragmented - accompanied by imagery of flora, fauna, and everyday items, helps me convey intense emotions in my daily life. Even when using ceramics and fiber to create abstract sculptural forms, I am still referencing natural formations like shells and chrysalises that humans have emotionally connected to for millennia. My ultimate motivations as an artist are to convey the visceral beauty of raw emotions and to highlight our bonds to the natural world.
